Fall Classic Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting 11-inning contest that saw the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51 million spectators in the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this is the most-watched Fall Classic finale since the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday memorable contest secured 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement over the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game averaged over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – averaged over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-match World Series averaged 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete US average was over 16 million. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M watchers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and Fox’s best postseason ratings after the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 media partners in sixteen various tongues.
